Registration and Policies

Payment Plans      
For the 2010-11 School Year, or the 2010 fall quarter, either pay in full when registering, or make a deposit of $80 for Lower Division, or $100 for Upper Division, then choose one of the following payment options for the balance:

Payment Options for Lower Division families (Babies, Toddlers, 3-4s):
   1-pay the balance by check upon receiving an emailed statement at week four.
   2-have the balance for the quarter charged automatically to a credit card at week four.
   3-if you need monthly payments, please email to set this up.

Payment Options for Upper Division (Young Musician and Piano) and families with 2 or more children in Upper or Lower Division:
   1- $100 deposit plus ten monthly auto-pays on a credit card in the amount of 1/10
       of the balance, Sept 1 thru June 1
   2- payment in thirds on credit card, one third now (instead of $100), one-third auto-pay
       on Dec 1, and one-third auto-pay on Mar 1.      
   3- $100 deposit plus check payment of 1/4 of the balance every two months,
       due Oct 1, Dec 1, Feb 1, and Apr 1.

For families on an installment plan who have children in Lower and Upper Divisions, it will be assumed that the Lower Division children are continuing all year, so that a regular annualized installment amount can be calculated. Changes can be made as needed.

Prorating
If a family joins a class after the session has started, tuition (not materials) will be prorated. Inquire for the amount.
 
Family Discount
There is a 10% discount on tuition for all children from the same family, but no discount on materials.
 
Refunds and Withdrawals
There are no refunds or credits for absences. For withdrawal a $25 cancellation fee is charged for notice given before a session has started; a $50 cancellation fee is charged if notice is given after a session has started. Refund for withdrawal is given on a pro-rated basis, and only for pre-paid tuition, not materials which have been received and taken home.
 
Snow Policy
If Seattle School District is closed for the day, only the MORNING classes here are cancelled, and the AFTERNOON classes will be decided around 1:00. If Seattle School District is running 2 hours late, all classes here are held on schedule.

Make-ups
A different class time may be attended to make up a missed class. The Studio is not responsible if there are no other days for your child's age group. Make-ups may be carried over into a subsequent quarter only if the family is enrolled in the subsequent semester. The studio reserves the right to use a holiday week to makeup classes which the studio cancelled.
 
Scholarships
Scholarships are available for tuition, not materials, for children with developmental or financial need. Please write a letter explaining the situation and why you would like to enroll the child, and please state how much of the tuition your family can afford to pay, e.g. one-half, one-fourth, or none. Requests for scholarship will not be considered if the family is excluding any children in the family between 4 to 9 years.
 
Class Size
There are minimum and maximum class sizes. Timely registration is highly  recommended.
 
Previews
Previewing a class before registering is permissible for Baby Time, Together Time, and Play Time, but keep in mind that waiting for the quarter or year to start might result in the preferred class time filling and not being available. Previewing a Young Musician class is possible only after week three of the year, and only if space is available.
 
Parent Observation
Please use the waiting room if the parent wishes to wait during a class that children attend without parents. The children really do better without parents watching.
 
Siblings in Class
Baby Time - no older siblings please.
Together Time - younger sibling OK until of crawling age. Older siblings OK only in rare one-time-only type of circumstances.
Play Time and Young Musician - siblings OK during parent participation time.
 
Parent Education
Parents are expected to attend a curriculum night or parent hour some time during the year.
